Overview

Wittenberg's history is closely connected with Martin Luther, Philipp Melanchthon and Lucas Cranach. The Luther memorials in Eisleben and Wittenberg have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1996. In Wittenberg, the inscription covers specific Reformation sites, not the entire city. See the UNESCO inscription and its scope.
