Stories of the district
Historical documents from 1795 provide insight into a dispute between the church in Wittenberg and the communities of Wiesigk and Iserbegka. The focus of the dispute was levies for church construction as well as obligations for clamping and manual services. The course of this conflict suggests that Wiesigk may not have had its own church and was instead ecclesiastically administered by Wittenberg. This connection illustrates Wiesigk's close historical and religious integration into the structures of the neighboring city. The picturesque town was incorporated into the city in 1950.
