Castle Courtyard

The area around the farm lies on the edge of the old city landscape. With a dense but open function, it is recognizable as a landmark in the city's silhouette. The front and back church forecourt is currently divided into two parts, one is busy with people, while the other appears almost deserted. The castle includes a museum, city archive and youth hostel. Visiting cultural sites, museums and concerts should be supported and movement between them should be strengthened. This means that private businesses and cultural offerings will benefit from the overall upgrading of public space. For this development to expand the busy area of the old town in all directions, the cultural functions must be reorganized. It would therefore be beneficial to strengthen the character and importance of the places, e.g. B. by creating special paving patterns. This would be a contribution to the historical legacy of the old town and a connection to the pedestrian zone between both parts of the castle church forecourt. If the rear rooms behind the forecourt were redesigned, new public spaces and a connection to the park and train station could be created.
