Stories of the district
The Luthersbrunnen, located about 4.5 kilometers east of Wittenberg city center, was once a historic restaurant and an important place in the history of the Reformation. In a picturesque setting with a view of the Elbe meadows, it attracted numerous visitors. In 1717, a house was built over the spring that Martin Luther is said to have discovered during one of his walks in 1521, which served as both a restaurant and a place of remembrance. This building is now permanently closed.
The district is characterized by loose development with single-family houses and lots of greenery, which retains a village character. Historical buildings and agricultural areas characterize the surrounding area. Due to its natural location with extensive meadow landscapes and good connections to the city center of Wittenberg, the area is attractive for both those seeking relaxation and residents.
