Stories of the district
The Wittenberg Stadtrandsiedlung was created as a functional residential area that forms the transition between urban development and rural areas. Like many suburban settlements at the time, it was designed to create affordable living space while at the same time allowing residents a certain degree of independence through larger plots of land and gardens.
The settlement was provided with basic infrastructure to ensure supplies close to home. Over the years the area has developed and has been adapted to modern living standards through renovations and new buildings. Today the Stadtrandsiedlung is a quiet residential area with good connections to the city center.
