Mochau, a charming village in Saxony-Anhalt, looks back on a long and eventful history. Mochau was first mentioned in a document in 1378 as “Mochow”, which underlines the historical significance of this place. The structure and architectural heritage of the region bear witness to development over several centuries. The brick church, which was built in 1872, is particularly striking. This church is not only a central place of faith for the community, but also an impressive example of 19th century architecture. [1]
The brick church, with its red tiled roof and delicate windows, is an attraction for both locals and visitors. It reflects the traditions and cultural values of the village community and is likely to be an important part of daily life in Mochau. This church has survived numerous changes and challenges over the years and is therefore a symbol of the stability and cohesion of the community. [1]
In Mochau it is easy to understand the story of a small village that has grown over time. The combination of tradition and modernity makes Mochau a special place whose charm continues to attract many people. [1]

Stories of the district
A year before it was incorporated into Lutherstadt Wittenberg on January 1, 2009, the village had 545 residents. Due to a lack of employment opportunities, moving to economically stronger regions is becoming increasingly attractive, while demand for residential construction is steadily decreasing. This trend continued in the years 2000 to 2007, when Mochau lost 6% of its residents. Emigration is currently increasing and this trend is expected to become more severe in the future.
Thiessen
Thießen is picturesquely located in the Krähebach valley. The townscape is characterized by traditional Hufner and Kossätenhöfe. The surrounding area is dominated by agricultural areas and farms. Striking landscape features are the lion hill and the vineyard. The typical Fläming pine forests also extend around the town. Changing meadow landscapes ensure a varied natural landscape. Steep slopes characterize the terrain and give the region a special topography.
