Educational Architecture: Neue Mitte Is Now Complete

Grünau Nordwest School Centre: A Modern Hub for Future-Focused Learning

Leipzig has gained an outstanding educational complex. Following extensive modernisation and refurbishment, the Grünau Nordwest School Centre opened its doors to around 1,600 students, transforming the educational landscape of the area. The Max Klinger School, Comenius School and 94th School now offer modern, high-quality learning environments.

Innovative Learning Spaces for Creative Minds

A total of 78 redesigned classrooms provide an inspiring environment for students and teachers alike. Modern technology and thoughtful design come together to promote knowledge, creativity and teamwork. As an independent architect and urban planner, Marco Gernt contributed extensive expertise to the comprehensive modernisation, with a strong focus on functionality and architectural quality throughout.

Neue Mitte: A Place for Connection

The new extension, known as Neue Mitte, forms the vibrant heart of the school centre and connects the three schools. It includes a spacious assembly hall for events, a versatile library and creative open spaces designed to encourage interaction and collaboration among students.

An Investment in the Future

The official opening on 30 October 2024 marked an important milestone for the educational infrastructure of Grünau. As one of the area's largest investments, the project represents a significant achievement for education and architecture in Leipzig.

The Grünau Nordwest School Centre demonstrates how future-focused learning and modern design can work together. More than a place of education, the school centre provides an inspiring environment in which the next generation can learn, connect and develop.
